Why I Oppose COVID-19 Vaccine Mandates

Excommunicating the resistant will be counterproductive.

It will cause businesses to go under.

It will lead citizens to resent government overreach and resist compliance with even the measures they would otherwise agree to.

It will cause strife between neighbors, friends and families.

And it will further isolate an already isolated population.

The exacerbating issues of depression and suicide cannot be ignored either; cutting people off from social interaction (restaurants etc.) has a deeply negative effect.

You never want to produce all these outcomes plus foment social unrest by creating two classes of people, two castes, the symbolically safe or more clean (vaccinated) and the dirty (unvaccinated).

Finally there is the issue of whether such a measure is even legal. Deprivation of rights under color of law (18 USC 242) is a Federal crime.

Additionally by mandating the vaccine passport for entry to public facilities, the government is mandating the vaccines, which the Supreme Court has already stopped.

So it is unclear that such a mandate would even be enforceable, further undermining public officials’ hard work and good intentions.

The best answer to disease is to prevent disease before it threatens the community.

That is why I favor technology-based solutions that remove the aerosolized virus from the air and surfaces alike.
